Caramel Corn Bucket

Posted on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012

A great idea for the holidays, Bri used one of our One Gallon HDPE Buckets (SKU# BUCKET), to make this beautiful homemade gift.

Holiday Bucket for Caramel Corn

To start, she took our BUCKET, and decorated it with holiday stickers that she got at her local Michaels craft store, a cost of $3.99 and $2.99 for the stickers purchased, but with multiple stickers in the package she can use them on future projects. She then purchased a fake poinsettia plant for $5.99. She removed all the flowers and leaves from the pant, and hot glued them to the lid of the bucket.

Once the bucket was decorated, she made homemade caramel corn to fill it with. She took 2 cups of kernels and popped them in her “Old Fashioned” popper and poured it into a large mixing bowl. When the popcorn was done, she made the caramel; using the following recipe from Allrecipes.com:

1 cup butter

2 cups brown sugar

½ cup corn syrup

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil without stirring 4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in soda and vanilla.

Pour moderate amount of caramel over popcorn, mixing thoroughly to coat a good amount of the popcorn. Add more caramel as needed. Bri mixed hers in batches to ensure that all the popcorn got a good coat of caramel.

Next, spread your popcorn out over two cookie sheets and allow hardening for 30 minutes. Then break it into pieces and put it into your decorated bucket.

Once you fill the bucket, secure your lid, and you are ready to gift your bucket.

To store your extra kernels, you can use any one of our decorative glass bottles like Bri did. Shown here in the FFL.
